British Breeding Futurity Off To Flying Start

The British Breeding / Baileys Horse Feeds Futurity Evaluations enjoyed a strong start this week (July 13th), with breeders for the first time submitting their entries in a digital format using sets of detailed videos taken on hard and soft ground. These were examined by a team of international experts, including a senior veterinarian, nutritionist, linear scorer and senior evaluators from the UK, Holland and Germany.

Entries are categorised by discipline with age groups for foals, yearlings, two and three-year olds.

The week's stand out entry was a particularly attractive yearling Dressage filly Flynnzatanz (pictured left with owner breeder Sarah Hall), whose excellent type and harmonious conformation earned her the highly respected "Gold" status with an overall mark of 8.15.

Flynnzatanz (Fidertanz x Charmeur) was first presented as a foal last year by first time breeder Sarah Hall, and the evaluators reported it a pleasure to have the opportunity to see her again as a yearling, showing that she is well on her way to develop into a beautiful young horse with correct gaits and conformation to succeed in the sport.

Sarah, of Chapelhouse Equestrian in Somerset, bred Flynnzatanz (pictured below) from her mare Zialita who she purchased as a 5-year-old dressage horse from Holland. Zialita was graded in Holland as a performance and brood mare. Sarah knew she had a mare with lots of potential and was looking for a stallion with a great temperament, which is one of the reasons she chose Fidertanz. Sarah says “Flynnzantanz isn’t a big flashy mover, but she is active and correct and to have that with the right temperament is exactly what I wanted to breed”.

Says British Breeding’s Dr Eva-Maria Broomer; "It is a great pleasure to start our auction selections with such a great example. The Futurity Elite Online Auction is unique in that buyers can bid with confidence and in the knowledge that all our foals and young horses for sale have been through the same rigorous, transparent and independent evaluation process from a team of international experts, evaluators, veterinarians and nutritionists and have been selected for ability, longevity and soundness.

“With this year’s Futurity now well under way and more entries submitted every week, we are looking forward to an exciting 2020 season. The Futurity will run until 31st August.”
